Maybe it was all the talk about Woodstock, or the Emergency Reunion, or maybe we’re just getting old and sentimental — most likely some combination of the above… For whatever reason we started thinking about gathering together our Claude Jones era photos and memorabilia and putting them somewhere where they could be shared with whoever might still be interested. Thus was born claudejonesarchive.org. There’s a photo gallery of mostly Connie’s pictures, and also a few live musical selections (!), recovered a musty box of reel-to-reel tapes recorded longer ago than most of us would like to admit.
So without further ado, here it is — maybe a little before it’s quite ready, but time is slipping away and I felt some urgency to get the stuff out there. I hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed putting it together. Just hearing some of those old recordings brought tears to my eyes. (Maybe some of you will have the same reaction but for different reasons!)
This will be an ongoing — and I hope collaborative — effort. Let me know if you want to get involved. And please, please, we need more pictures, especially of the early days, the Emergency, etc. If you have any complaints or suggestions (especially corrections), please send them to Mr. Mox, and he will deal with them appropriately.
